Privacy Policy
Last updated: 17 July 2026. This policy explains what Culina ("we", "us") collects, why, and the choices you have. It applies to the Culina mobile app and https://culinaapp.in.
What we collect
- Account details. When you sign in with a phone number we store the number; with Google Sign-In we store the email and name your Google account shares. You can add a username, display name, photo, a short bio and a dietary preference.
- Your content. Recipes, cookbooks, drafts, images you upload, likes, saves, follows and feedback you send us.
- Usage data. Which screens and features are used (e.g. “recipe imported”, “cook mode started”), app version, device platform, coarse timestamps such as when your account was last active, and crash reports. We use Google Analytics for Firebase and Firebase Crashlytics alongside our own event log for this.
- Content you ask AI to process. Links, images and text prompts you submit for import or generation (see “AI processing” below).
We do not collect your contacts, precise location, or advertising identifiers, and we don't show ads.
How we use it
- To run Culina: sync your library, compute nutrition estimates, power sharing and profiles.
- To improve the product: aggregate usage analytics tell us which features help and which confuse.
- To keep it working: crash reports and technical logs help us find and fix bugs.
- To respond when you contact us or send in-app feedback.
We don't sell your personal data, and we don't use it for third-party advertising.
AI processing
When you import or generate a recipe, the link, image or prompt you provide is sent to Google's Gemini API to produce the structured recipe. Prompts are processed to deliver the feature; avoid including personal information in them. AI output is always shown to you as a draft for review before it is saved.
Where your data lives
Culina runs on Google Cloud in the asia-south1 (India) region. Media you upload is stored in a private Firebase Storage bucket; images are served through unguessable tokenized URLs. Traffic between the app and our servers is encrypted with TLS.
Our processors are Google LLC services: Firebase Authentication, Firebase Storage, Google Analytics for Firebase, Firebase Crashlytics, Google Cloud Platform and the Gemini API.
What's public
Your recipes and drafts are private by default. If you publish a recipe or cookbook, share a link, or display something on your profile, that content — along with your username, display name, photo and follower counts — is visible to others. Share links (e.g. culinaapp.in/u/your-username) are public web pages.
Retention & deleting your data
We keep your data while your account is active. To delete your account and its content, email support@culinaapp.in from the address or number linked to your account — we'll confirm and complete deletion within 30 days, except records we must keep for legal or security reasons.
Children
Culina is not directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their data. If you believe a child has created an account, contact us and we'll remove it.
Changes & contact
If we change this policy in a meaningful way, we'll update this page and the date above. Questions or requests: support@culinaapp.in.
